The movie follows Sandra Bullock’s portrayal of Malorie Hayes as she works to shield her two children and herself from entities that make individuals who stare at them commit themselves. The movie Bird Box had its international debut at the AFI Fest on November 12, 2018, and on December 14 it went on restricted distribution before going global on Netflix on December 21.

This is Thurber and Johnson’s third joint project after Central Intelligence (2016) and Skyscraper (2018).
